# About Blind Solutions

**Blind Solutions (Pty) Ltd** is a South African specialist in architectural sun control, based in Roodepoort, Gauteng, and working across Gauteng, Pretoria and the Western Cape (projects nationwide). We design, supply, motorise and install engineered shading — concealed blind systems, Somfy motorisation, external solar control, awnings, curtain track and roller shutters — and we write the specifications that make those systems defensible. **Sunlux Blinds** is our own brand. Established in 2004; built on some thirty years of South African sun-control experience.

## What we're known for
- **Concealed blind systems**: S Series (new build), C Series (retrofit), TrackTrim recessed curtain track — hardware hidden inside the building fabric.
- **Somfy motorisation**: from single motorised blinds to whole-building automation with sun/wind sensors, TaHoma and KNX/BACnet integration.
- **External shading**: external venetian louvres and Guthrie Douglas TESS tensioned fabric systems that stop solar heat at the glass — the highest-performance shading and the one that matters for energy compliance and rating credits.
- **Specification support for architects**: free BIM objects and technical drawings, Project Modules (spec clause + schedule + BoQ), SANS-referenced consulting, and the Blind Solutions Academy.

## How we work
1. Consult and analyse the facade — orientation, glazing, heat load, glare.
2. Measure and specify — a written, itemised specification referencing applicable SANS clauses.
3. Manufacture and motorise — made to measure, controls engineered in from the start.
4. Install and hand over — with manufacturer warranties and datasheets.

## Standards we work to
- **SANS 10400-XA:2021 (Ed 2)** — energy usage in buildings; the fenestration / solar-heat-gain framework our specifications are written against.
- **SANS 10177** — fire classification of fabrics.
- **SANS 10142** — wiring of premises, for motorisation installations.
- **Green Star SA and EDGE** — rating tools where engineered shading contributes energy credits.

## Straight talk
We don't publish unverifiable ratings or testimonials, and we don't cite withdrawn standards. Our Academy CPD programmes are **submitted for SACAP CPD accreditation — approval pending**; every course page says so.
