About Blind Solutions
Architectural sun control, specified properly
Blind Solutions is a South African specialist in engineered shading — concealed blind systems, Somfy motorisation, external solar control, awnings and curtain track — established in 2004 and built on some thirty years of South African sun-control experience across Gauteng, Pretoria and the Western Cape. Sunlux Blinds is our own brand; the specification behind it is the point.
Who we are
Blind Solutions (Pty) Ltd is a Roodepoort-based sun-control specialist working across residential, commercial and institutional buildings. We design, supply, motorise and install internal and external shading, and we write the specifications that make those systems defensible — orientation, glazing, solar heat gain and the standards that govern them. Our own brand, Sunlux Blinds, brings together engineered components from the right manufacturer for each application — Somfy motors and controls, Guthrie Douglas TESS tensioned systems, Sunlux external venetians and honeycomb fabrics — delivered as one coordinated system rather than a catalogue of parts.
What we're known for
Concealment. Our S Series (new build) and C Series (retrofit) concealed blind systems, and the TrackTrim recessed curtain track, hide the hardware inside the building fabric so the architecture stays clean. Motorisation. We are Somfy specialists — from a single remote-controlled blind to whole-building automation with sun and wind sensors, TaHoma and KNX/BACnet integration. External shading. External venetian louvres and tensioned fabric systems stop solar heat at the glass, before it enters the building — the highest-performance shading there is, and the one that moves the needle on energy compliance and rating credits.
How we work
- Consult and analyse. We look at the facade — orientation, glazing, heat load, glare — before we talk about products.
- Measure and specify. A written, itemised specification referencing the applicable SANS clauses, so it survives tender and hand-over scrutiny.
- Manufacture and motorise. Made to measure, with motorisation and controls engineered in from the start rather than bolted on.
- Install and hand over. Installed by our teams, handed over with the manufacturer warranties and datasheets that go with each system.
We don't publish star ratings or testimonials we can't verify, and we don't cite withdrawn standards. Our Academy CPD programmes have been submitted for SACAP CPD accreditation and approval is pending — we say so on every course page. For architects and specifiers
A large part of our work sits upstream of the installation: helping architects, interior designers and quantity surveyors specify shading correctly. That's why we publish free BIM objects and technical drawings, write Project Modules (specification clause, schedule and bill of quantities for a given system), and run the Blind Solutions Academy — including the CPD editions currently under SACAP review. It's also why our product pages read like specification sheets rather than brochures.
